Geri (Geraldine) Dye has been a member of the RFHH family since her husband, Lew, joined the hunt in 1983. In fact, it is hard to picture an Opening Meet Breakfast or Blessing of the Hounds or Hunt Ball without Geri’s smiling face and ever helpful hands (or a summer evening’s post hound-walk potluck without her guacamole!!).
When Lew passed away in early 2016, technically, Geri’s “official” association with the hunt also passed. However, family is family and I am delighted to share that Geri has completed the application for Social Membership, choosing to continue to grace us by becoming an RFHH member in her own right.
When I asked Geri to give me some insight into her long association, she was at pains to say that for a long time, she “really did try” to become a rider. She lessoned (briefly) with both Mary and Pam Graham, and faithfully served as chief groom to Lew while he played polo and chased fox. “I just never really enjoyed the riding” she says, but she thoroughly enjoyed the people through the years, and counts many as good friends, a few – very dear.
